glenn

While it is a possibility.

Right now, its not gonna happen.

The rule was made, to keep military surgeons in practice.

But if you haven't noticed, there is a war going on.

Military surgeons have better uses of thier time, than to do voluntary plastic surgery right now.

You can check, but your chances of getting surgery are slim to none.

blume

you start with your PCM.. and by no means is it easy to get. Priority goes to AD who were wounded and require medically necessary cosmetic surgery. Only about 5 locations in the country offer it and the waiting list is often 2 years long or longer.

Frankly the surgeries are offered to keep the Doctors in practice. they are getting PLENTY of practice working on our Wounded Troops. so getting on the list is hard enough, let alone actually getting any procedure done.

oh and to get on the list, you need to prove that it is a severe mental or physical hardship that you have little *******.

daemer

You will need to see your PCM for referral to a military surgeon.

Here's how it really works:

To stay certified, a plastic surgeon has to do x amount of surgeries a year. He or she may not get enough opportunities through disease (think ****** cancer) or accidents (think rhinoplasty) so they will take on military and/or dependents.

Some people think there is a limit of one and that can be transferred to a dependent. I suspect that's a local policy. I worked at Wilford Hall before and after the the war started. Before the war, if you wanted something done, you just had to sign up. Since then, its become more difficult.

remitc

ok, in order for them to that for you...... there has to be a medical reason - u cant just be like ok i want a nose job.... such as a friend of mine had back problems because of her "top" half.. and they paid for the reduction... another lost lots of weight therefor has extra skin and things like that - and she is getting it done. Its a VERY long procedure you will need to see your doctor on base... they will tak to you about it, and it depends on why you want it done. if there is a medical reason or something like that.... u canst just say im ugly i want this this and this done... if your having self esteem problems you will be going into therapy and everything... and even if your doctor says ok - it still needs to approved and everything..... so yea good luck if your wanting to get it done... but it will take a while.. i know some people who worked for 2+ years...

gretlanc

Yes! You can do this. The active duty Military member is allowed one free plastic surgery, that is now allowed to be transfered to the dependant.

I would speak to your PCM (primary care manager) with Tricare. I havent had time to do that.. but that is where I have been instructed to go about it :)

Why do yall think Military spouses have Implants?? Because its allowed to be transfered to the wives now lol.

Call your PCM and speak to him/her about it.

EDIT. In the Marine Corps you dont have to have a Medical Reason for it. As far as I know and have seen .. Its a Perk.

I do know that their is a lonnnng waiting list for it though :(
